Periwinkle Way

Do you dream of dolphins? Join sisters Robyn and Rue on a captivating adventure off Captiva Island.

When teenager Robyn looks up from snorkeling, she thinks she can see dolphins leaping in the distance. The beach, just off beautiful Captiva Island, offers a palette of golden sun, snowy sands, and serene blue. Her dream vacation; actually her dream vacation would offer a hint of a romance, and likely not include her pain-in-the-butt sister, either. Robyn is good at making the best of things though. A swim across this natural, untamed beach is her one goal, the one plan she held on to through the whole week. Her sister Rue, of course, has already managed to ruin the plan. Or has she? Everything changes when a motorboat chugs up the beach, and a more than averagely cute guy drops anchor beside them.

*Note from Nancy: this is my very first Young Adult story. Please look for another Robyn and Rue adventure next year!

Dressage Cowboy

Jessica is as resistant as her horse, but it isn’t the leg-yield she’s resisting. Who knew a would-be Gene Autry on a bay stallion would be jogging around her warm-up arena?

This cowboy is something of a stallion himself, and there is something about those fine masculine lines that are bound to attract a woman's attention. On the other hand, she'd better make the most of the few minutes she has to prepare for her dressage exhibit.

Is there a place for love anywhere near a horse show ring? Dressage Cowboy will drop you right at the in-gate for a glimpse of the action.

As a 'horse' person I just had to read this for myself. Although I live in the UK, I ride Western, ; I just love reining. I describe it as 'high speed dressage' to my friends who ride 'English' , and I love to see the expressions on their faces when they see a reining demonstration and watch a 'sliding stop' and a 'spin' for the first time... I do admire dressage riders as well though - done well it is very much like ballet. I think you got the two disciplines across perfectly in your story. I'm sure even most non-horse riders would have enjoyed it. My only regret is that it wasn't longer!'

The Painter's Brush With Death

Audacious or ambitious? When it comes to Miss Sarah Woods, who can tell?

It is 1919, and the menfolk are not long home from the war.   The little town of Berwick, Maine is scarcely used to the wild sounds of swing music, bored heiresses, or the smashing city-style clothing just coming into vogue.  When Miss Sarah contrives a 'society' event, it is the talk of the town.

"Apple Pancake!  My stars and garters... why don't we just plop down in the kitchen and eat with the serving girl!"    Even Miss Sarah Woods cannot explain how she manages to survive life among this common lot.  Her delicate sensibilities, her natural charm... if not for her own steely resolve and ever-forgiving nature, she would certainly have been driven mad.

The Painter's Eye For An Eye

A short story, a romance (perhaps) and more... from sleighing to hosting a dinner party, Poor Miss Sarah must somehow live the life of a gentlewoman, here on the Coast of Maine,  in 1919.

Such A Cozy Killing has all the classic elements of the 'cozy' mystery: the tea party, the cat, the clues, the crime... See if you can puzzle it out before our heroine LuAnn pulls it off!
