A CASE OF OVERKILL
Set in the lovely, wild areas of New Hampshire's White Mountains, readers will delight in the charms of the local inn while trying to puzzle out this old-style mystery.
Blizzard conditions in a New Hampshire mountain pass result in a tragic, but hardly surprising accident, which becomes the catalyst for a series of what seem unrelated events. A desperate effort to find a missing hiker leads rescue teams toward dangers quite outside their experience, dangers can't be put down to bad luck.
Rock climber Greg Taylor becomes increasingly convinced that it was no accident. Combining his own natural gifts for detection with those of an elderly busybody, they become a team that is a threat to somebody!
From chocolate cake to Crème Brûlée, hazards appear at every corner. This lively mystery spans only a few short days, but readers quickly discover that every clue counts...
'Between the chilling climbs and the chocolate-cake at the inn, it's best to set out on this reading venture with a cup of cocoa and a thickly frosted cake right at hand!'

The author does a great job of creating a puzzle and only giving little clues to helpo solve the puzzle. She has created great characters and a wonderful setting. The climbing really adds to it as well. I recommend you check out this new author and book. She'll keep you guessing until the end!

As a native of New Hampshire, I do love books set in the mountains of our state. This story captures the atmosphere of a resort in the area as well as the excitement of rock climbing that many of the characters enjoyed. The story grabbed me at the beginning and I really did not want to stop reading until I finished. The characters were eccentric and intriguing and there was enough mystery to each of them to keep you guessing the motives or intentions of every one. I liked the multiple characters and how the varied story lines were woven together. Ms. Lindley-Gauthier produced a exciting first novel and I look forward to see what else she offers the literary world. I was thrilled to read the book and would recommend to anyone.
