Lover's Leap,
Coming in 2008: an all-equine puzzler, romantic mystery by Nancy Lindley-Gauthier.
Where one diabolical mystery threatens to get in the way of a seriously good romance, although nothing ruins the horse show, of course.
She pulled Oliver in a tight circle, cursing silently in her mind. Penalty points racking up now, she harangued at herself. She pointed the over-zeolous thoroughbred very directly at the center of the jump and squeezed hard. Oliver cantered toward it as if all-willing, but she knew there'd be deception in his black heart. She felt his little effort at another left-handed glide and she kicked him once, hard, to keep him straight into the jump. Oliver felt as if he were about to slam on the brakes. Another firm kick and he made a startled lunge, up and over. His front legs cleared the ditch and rail, but Jessica was behind when he took off and thumped down on his back mid-air. Frank, on the sidelines, likely saw her every mistake. |
